Dragon History was started by Fran Flett Hollinrake, who fell in love with Orkney many years ago, discovered she had Orcadian ancestors and finally moved to the islands in 2004.

Fran studied Scottish History at St Andrews and Edinburgh Universities and worked as a tour guide in Edinburgh for over 10 years. She toured throughout Scotland, conducting study tours and lectures for Elderhostel through Edinburgh University Summer School programmes.

If you are a fan of ‘Most Haunted’ or ‘Scream Team’ you will have seen Fran explaining the ghostly presences of the Edinburgh Vaults – she is also the author of ‘Hidden and Haunted: Underground Edinburgh’.

Fran is a Regional Affiliate Member of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association and a member of the Orkney Tourist Guides Association. Her two greatest loves are history and talking.
